Thirty-one (31) regional winners and five semi-finalists of the Civil Service Commission’s Search for Outstanding Government Workers were recognized by the CSC Regional Office VI (CSC RO VI) during the Pasidungog 2024 at the Zuri Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City on September 17, 2024.

CSC Assistant Commissioner Nerissa B. Canguilan awarded the certificates to the Regional Winners and plaques of recognition and cash award of PHP20,000 to the National Semi-finalists together with Regional Director Nelson G. Sarmiento and Assistant Regional Director Erna T. Elizan. They were assisted by the CSC RO VI Field Directors. The winners received the award together with their Heads of agencies or their representatives.

This year, out of 63 nominations received by the CSC RO VI, 31 were selected by the Regional Committee on Awards as regional winners in the CSC Pagasa, Dangal ng Bayan, and Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award Categories. Out of this number, five were selected as semi-finalists in the national level, and three eventually made it as national winners.

“It is a privilege to be with you today in this momentous celebration- Pasidungog 2024, where we give honor to the finest civil servants from region 6. As we gather to recognize our regional winners and semi-finalists of the 2024 Search for Outstanding Government Workers, we also reflect on the profound meaning of public service,” said Assistant Commissioner Canguilan during her Keynote Speech.

The Pasidungog is one of the highlights of the 124th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary in the region. In her speech, Assistant Commissioner Canguilan also emphasized the importance of the PCSA theme. “This year’s Philippine Civil Service Anniversary theme, ‘Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-ready Servant-heroes,’ resonates deeply with the changing landscape of governance. It reminds us that public service is not static. As we face global challenges, from pandemics, technological disruptions, and climate change to name a few, we must embrace innovation, agility, and resilience in our work.”

2023 Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award National Winner, Professor Julie Ann A. Salido, who is also the Vice President for Research and Extension of Aklan State University, gave an inspirational message to the awardees. In her message, she said, “being conferred and awarded is not just a recognition of individual achievement, but a testament to the collective spirit of service that defines us. Our work is more than a profession; it is a calling that requires heart, resilience, and an unwavering belief that every action, no matter how small, contributes to the greater good.”

On behalf of the awardees, Jay F. Tumbokon, 2024 CSC Pagasa Award National Semi-finalist, gave a response. In his message, he shared that his journey was like that of David and Goliath where every challenge and trial became an opportunity to discover solutions.

Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul N. Banias, 2006 Presidential Lingkod Bayan National Winner and Iloilo City Assistant Administrator Noel S. Panaguiton also graced the Pasidungog on behalf of Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. and Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, respectively.
