Melodies will fill the halls of Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo at the Cultural Center of the Philippines as eight (8) choral groups perform “Kaya Ko Ang Pagbabago” in the much-awaited Government Choral Competition (GCC) on September 18, 2018.

Entries nationwide were screened by a panel of judges composed of choral experts—Arwin Tan, Jude Roldan, and Maria Theresa Roldan.

The finalists for NCR are the National Power Chorale, City Government of Makati Employees Chorale, and COA CO/NCR Choir; for Luzon, the DepEd Catanduanes Division Choral and Dasmariñas City Teachers' Chorale; for Visayas, the NSU Chorale (Naval State University); and for Mindanao, the Bayugan City Educators Chorale and DepEd Division of Agusan Del Sur Teachers' Chorale.

The Government Choral Competition is one of the major events of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) held every September. It aims to showcase musical creativity of talented government employees, promote Filipino culture and arts through choral singing, and inculcate in the minds of public servants a culture of excellence in public service.

The grand winner will receive a cash prize of PHP200,000; PHP150,000 for the first runner-up; PHP100,000 for the second runner-up; and PHP75,000 for the third runner-up. Non-winners will each receive PHP50,000 consolation prize and a certificate.

Aside from the Government Choral Competition, other PCSA events scheduled this September are the R.A.C.E. to Serve Fun Run set on September 2, Awards Rites for the 2018 Outstanding Government Workers, and PCSA Job Fair for Government Agencies.
