The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has included two (2) new programming languages—C# and V.B.net.—in the list of proficiency tests or training courses which can be used as basis for the grant of Electronic Data Processing Specialist Eligibility (EDPSE).

The EDPSE is conferred to passers of the proficiency test, or passers of the training courses conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), through the National ICT Competency Management Service (NCM). Existing proficiency tests or training courses conducted by the DICT as basis for the grant of EDPSE are Systems Analysis and Design, Computer Programming, Java, MS Access, and Visual Basic.

Runners are invited to participate in the 2018 R.A.C.E. to Serve Fun Run to be held 2 September 2018 (Sunday), 4 a.m. at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila.

The fun run is open to government officials and employees, as well as private individuals. Spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission National Capital Region (CSC NCR), the event serves as the official kick-off activity to the nationwide, month-long celebration of the 118th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA).

It aims to raise funds for the Pamanang Lingkod Bayani program, which honors public servants who sacrificed their lives in the service of the Filipino people. Under the said program, government officials and employees who died in the line of duty are recognized in simple rites, with their families receiving a plaque of recognition, scholarship grant to the awardee’s immediate family member, and a one-time financial assistance worth Php100,000.

More than 250,000 hopefuls are expected to take the Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) on 12 August 2018, Sunday, in various testing centers nationwide, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) reported.

This figure comprises the combined number of examinees of the Professional and Sub-Professional exam levels, who hope to pass the exams and consequently obtain a civil service eligibility which is one of the requirements to qualify for permanent appointment in government service.

The CSC advised examinees that school and room assignments may be generated using the Online Notice of School Assignment (ONSA) starting 30 July. They may also inquire with the concerned CSC Regional/Field Office, in case they are unable to access ONSA or generate their school and room assignment.

Testing venues will open as early as 6 a.m. Gates will be closed to examinees at exactly 7:30 a.m. and those that will arrive late will no longer be admitted. Failure to take the examination shall mean forfeiture of examination fee and slot. Thus, examinees are urged to conduct an ocular visit of the school at least one day before the exam to check the exact location, travel route, travel time, availability of parking space, and other relevant information.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) urges government agencies to review and revisit their systems and procedures for the purpose of re-engineering, if deemed necessary, as Republic Act No. 11032 mandates faster and more efficient transactions in public agencies.
